Heads up displays or HUD displays a projected image on the windshield of a car or plane or boat. HUDs evolved from the reflector sight, a pre-World War II optical sight technology for military air-crafts. They started modernizing in the 70s still for planes only. Then GM started using them in the late 90s and early 2000s in their corvettes and ever since then they have been getting more and more developed. Now you can find them in most luxurious cars and some common cars. HUDs may project speed, rpms, navigation, and occasionally night vision. There are also motorcycle helmet HUD.
Pioneer launched a navigation HUD in 2012.
I suspect they will be used in almost every vehicle and keep evolving.
